Synthetic biology: Life 2.0?

The next Bollington SciBar will be at The Vale Inn, Adlington Road, Bollington on Monday 10 January 2011, 6.30 – 8.00pm. The speaker is Dr Martyn Amos, Reader in the School of Computing, Mathematics and Digital Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The recent creation of an artificial genome has highlighted the possible benefits – and the potential risks – of the new field of synthetic biology. We will discuss the opportunities available, and the social, economic and ethical implications of biological engineering.
